FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: described is a method of feeding catalyst into polymerisation reactor, involving heating fluid medium, including inert liquid hydrocarbon, in heat exchanger for evaporation of at least a portion of inert hydrocarbon liquid and formation of an inert hydrocarbon in gaseous form; contacting catalyst with carrier fluid medium, including inert hydrocarbon, which has a boiling point under normal conditions from -1 °C to 81 °C; and feeding carrier fluid medium into a polymerisation reactor so that carrier fluid medium transports catalyst into polymerisation reactor, wherein inert hydrocarbon is present in carrier fluid medium in gaseous form or in form of a combination of liquid and gaseous forms. Described is a polymerisation method, in which said method of feeding catalyst into reactor is used. Also described is a catalyst system comprising: a vessel for catalyst, containing a catalyst; a catalyst feed line, intended for feeding catalyst into polymerisation reactor, in hydraulic connection with vessel for catalyst and polymerisation reactor; carrier fluid medium feed line, in hydraulic connection with catalyst feed line, intended for supply of carrier fluid medium, including inert hydrocarbon in gaseous form, into catalyst feed line, wherein inert hydrocarbon has a boiling point under normal conditions from -1 to 81 °C; hydrocarbon feed line, in hydraulic connection with carrier fluid medium feed line; and heat exchanger connected with hydrocarbon feed line, intended for heating inert hydrocarbon in its feed line.

EFFECT: method of feeding catalyst into reactor makes it possible to reduce or prevent nitrogen supply into polymerisation reactor so that partial pressure of ethylene in reactor increases and loss of monomer during purging of reactor is reduced.
