FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method of production of meta-chlorobenzhydrylamine using Ritter reaction of meta-chlorobenzophenone. Obtained compound is an intermediate product and can be used for production of known anticonvulsant "galodif". Method for production of meta-chlorobenzhydrylamine comprises reduction of meta-chlorobenzophenone with NaBH4 in a medium of ethyl alcohol to produce meta-chlorobenzhydrol, which is reacted with acetonitrile in presence of sulphuric acid at 60 °C. Or reduction of meta-chlorobenzophenone with NaBH4 is carried out in a medium of acetonitrile, with subsequent addition of sulphuric acid. Obtained reaction mass is neutralised and meta-chlorobenzhydrylacetamide, which is treated with concentrated hydrochloric acid in isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and reaction mass is neutralised with 30 % aqueous sodium hydroxide solution with separation of end product.
EFFECT: method enables to reduce temperature and process duration and obtain a product with high output.
