FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises treating the lignocellulosic material with an aqueous solution which contains an alcohol, in particular C1-4 alcohol or phenol, and has a pH value from 11.0 to 14.0, for the cleavage of lignocellulose. Cleavage products are separated from said lignocellulosic material, wherein a material enriched with cellulose and hemicellulose is obtained. The resulting material enruched with cellulose and hemicellulose is treated with xylanase to obtain xylose, and xylose is enzymatically converted into xylitol.
EFFECT: increasing the desired product yield.
