FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: device is disclosed, comprising a housing, a coil mounted in the housing suitable for rotating in it, compising a cable wound on it with foregone parameters, an electric engine mounted in the housing, functionally connected to the coil suitable for rotating thereof; a pulley mounted in the housing, through which the cable, unwinding from the coil, descends into the well; a mark mounted on the pulley, block, mark detection unit made suitable for detecting the mark and sending detection signal to measurement unit, the measurement unit made suitable for receiving the detection signal from the mark detection unit, cable running depth is calculated as the product of received detecion signal number and pulley circumference. Wherein the measurement unit is made suitable for reading electric engine rotation speed and determining mark rate equal to ratio of mark occurrence period to electric engine rotation speed. The measurement unit is made suitable for determining mark bypass, if mark rate was reduced by half while maintaining the electric motor rotation speed, restoring the missed mark and increasing the measured descent cable length value in an appropriate manner. The mark detection unit and the measurement unit are mounted in the housing and are functionally connected to one another via communication lines.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of determining depth of cable running in well.
