FIELD: oil and gas industry.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device comprises a housing, a coil mounted in the housing with ability to rotate in it; a coil comprises a cable with foregone parameters wound on it; a pulley mounted in the housing, through which the cable, unwinding from the coil, descends into the well; a mark mounted on the pulley, mark detection unit made suitable for detecting the mark and sending detection signal to measurement unit; the measurement unit made suitable for receiving the detection signal from the mark detection unit, and for calculating cable running depth as the product of number of received detection signals and pulley circumference. Moreover, the measurement unit, based on previously known cable parameters, additionally introduces a correction function FP for the measured value of the cable length, taking into account the non-linear cable extension as it is being run into the well. The mark detection unit and the measurement unit are mounted in the housing and are functionally connected to each other via communication lines.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of determining depth of cable running in well.
