SUBSTANCE: absorbent article is intended for personal hygiene, with a front edge, a back edge and a longitudinal axis, extending in the longitudinal direction of the article. The product has the length of L, of at least about 320 mm and the distance measured along the longitudinal axis from the front edge to the back edge. The absorbent article is comprised of a liquid pervious top sheet; a liquid impervious back sheet; and the absorbent core positioned between the top sheet and back sheet and the skin of the core, which is comprised of an upper side and a lower side, covering the absorbent material. The absorbent material contains super absorbent polymers in an amount of at least 80% by weight of the absorbent material and is free from cellulosic fibers. The absorbent core contains at least a pair of canals, which are at least partially oriented in the longitudinal direction of the article, wherein the said canals are essentially free of absorbent material, and the upper side and the lower side of the core skin is at least partially bonded to each other by at least a section of said canals, and the receiving and distributing system located between the top sheet and the absorbent core. The receiving and distributing system is comprised one or more layers, wherein the receiving and distributing system contains a layer of synthetic fibers of at least about 50% by weight with weight per unit of area equal to 150 g/m².
