FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: differential contains gear housing, side gear, drive gear and ring. Gear housing contains a central axis and a recess. Side gear is made with the posibility to rotate around the central axis. Side gear contains a radially extending locking elements, which include side gear parts, divided by a variety of grooves. The actuating mechanism surrounds the central axis. The ring is made movable in two directions along the central axis. The ring contains extentions and radially extending locking elements, including ring segments, which are separated by a variety of grooves. The driving mechanism is constructed to move the ring relative to side gear to change the direction of the extensions in the recesses in the axial direction. Ring segments are constructed with the posibility to engage the side gear segments, when the driving mechanism moves the ring to the locked position. Side gear segments are configured to pass through the exhaust groove radially inward of the locking members when the drive mechanism moves the ring in the unlocked position.

EFFECT: invention provides a differential with a small stroke length and large length of the locking engagement.
