FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: opening of monazite is carried out with phosphoric acid at a temperature of 300 to 550°C, within 1-2 hours. Dissolve the resulting melt is carried out with a solution of phosphoric acid. A solution containing thorium and the rare earth elements, cooled and filtered from the insoluble precipitate. Rare earth elements and thorium is removed from the solution on ion exchange resins, and the purified phosphoric acid is used for the opening of the next batch of monazite concentrate.
EFFECT: reducing costs by returning the reagent to the process.
