FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: compound ramjet comprises a cruise engine and an accelerating engine fixed to the cruise engine, an air intake device equipped with plugs, a nozzle and a combustion chamber. An element centering the accelerating engine is positioned in the combustion chamber housing. The combustion chamber housing is equipped with an outer coaxial sheath fixed to the nozzle and designed to move back along the flight, fixate in the extended position relative to the combustion chamber housing. Fixation zone is provided with a seal. The combustion chamber housing and the sheath are interconnected by breakable attachment. The accelerating engine housing is equipped with projections designed to change their form during a power contact with the nozzle. The centering element is made of solid propellant with channels for passage of the projections.
EFFECT: invention enables to create an engine which has increased total energy efficiency due to obtainment of additional propulsive burn by creating conditions which ensure the implementation of solid propellant charge properties by the centering element, as well as the required time to achieve the completeness of its combustion, while maintaining the stability of ramjet operation.
