FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: electronic detection device comprises a set of contactless electronic sensors, including gas sensors, and providingmonitoring of gas levels, emitted by two or more volatile compounds present in the absorbent article. The device also includes a controller configured to receive data from a set of contactless sensors and to determine, based on the said information, whether the intake of urine or defecation product contamination was detected. The controller is further configured to differentiate between urine flow only and impurities containing defecation products. The device also comprises a signaling device able to communicate with the controller and generate the first signal when the controller detects the presence of urine in the absorbent article and the second signal when the controller detects the presence of impurities containing defecation products. Moreover, the set of contactless electronic sensors is configured to use the watchdog sensor that is configured to activate, in case of detection of the predetermined concentration threshold of at least one target gas, and at least one sensor within the set of contactless electronic sensors.
