FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for concentrating the caustic soda solution involves pre-evaporation of the solution and final concentration to 98-99 wt %. Pre-evaporation is conducted to a concentration of caustic soda in a solution of 65-75 wt %, then the solution is heated to 300-350°C and fed to the heat exchanger, allowing direct solution contact with water vapour having an inlet temperature of 600-650°C and pressure up to 200 atm. The resulting solution, superheated to a temperature of 600-650°C, is finally concentrated by throttling with a decrease in pressure.
EFFECT: simplifying the process while reducing energy costs.
