FIELD: tobacco industry.

SUBSTANCE: smoking product comprises a tobacco rod suitable for smoking, containing tobacco and a wrapper; and a filter having a first end and a second end. The filter comprises a first filter segment extending to the first filter end and located at the end of the tobacco rod, the first filter segment comprising cut or ground vegetable material; and a second filter segment extending to the second end of the filter. The second filter segment comprises a cellulosic material as a filter material and has a length in the range from 3 mm to 12 mm. The second filter segment comprises at least one of cellulosic materials selected from the following group comprising paper, adsorbent paper, activated carbon paper, air-tangled cellulose fiber, regenerated cellulose, lyocell, viscose; the filter being biodegradable according to OECD 301 V.

EFFECT: biodegradability while preserving the efficiency of conventional filters.
