FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing terpineol, which is used in the production of perfume compositions as a component of flavorants in the production of detergents and cleaning agents. The method includes hydration α-pinene, isolation of pine oil and its subsequent rectification. Herewith before rectification, pine oil is treated with a polar solvent, such as triethylene glycol, at a temperature of 25-40°C and the ratio by weight of the polar solvent: pine oil is equal to (2-4):1.
EFFECT: method enables to produce the end product with the high output.
