FIELD: chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the improved method of synthesis and treatment of synthetic ethanol synthesized by direct hydration of ethylene. Method involves fractionation of an aqueous-spirituous concentrate synthesized by direct hydration of ethylene in fractionating column using hydroselection and removal of light distillate fraction and an intermediate product followed by its two-step treatment in fractionating columns. In the first fractionating column water is removed from the bottom and alcohol-containing product is removed from the top and the latter is fed in the second fractionating column. Rectified alcohol is removed from the second column by side distillate from dead-end plate placed on the top part of column and head-fraction of alcohol is removed from the top of column. Synthesized alcohol comprises totally usually 0.3-10 mln^-1 of organic impurities and head- fraction of alcohol removing from the top of the second fractionating column comprises 20-300 mln^-1 of organic impurities. For complete removal of crotonic aldehyde from rectified alcohol it is possible to feed an alkaline solution on plates above feeding and/or in the second fractionating column feeding in mass ratio alkali : the second fractionating column feeding = (0.002-0.05) : 1.
