FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method consists in condensing butyl carbitol with formaldehyde when heated in the presence of an acid catalyst with a constant distillation of reaction water in the form of azeotrope with a solvent and subsequent neutralisation of the reaction mass. Trioxane is used as a formaldehyde component, and the process is carried out at a molar ratio of butyl carbitol: trioxane 1:0.2 in the presence of 0.4-1.1% of butyl carbitol of 98% sulfuric acid as a catalyst.
EFFECT: simplification of technology.
