FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: drive design for a gas turbine engine comprises: a fan shaft; a frame, supporting the fan shaft; a gear system that drives the fan shaft; a flexible bearing structure that at least partially supports the gear system, and an inlet assembly of the gear system. The transverse stiffness (KFS) of the flexible support structure and the transverse stiffness (KIC) of the input unit comprise less than 20% of the transverse stiffness (Kframe) of the frame. The transverse stiffness (KFS) of the flexible support structure is less than 8% of the lateral stiffness (KGM) of the gearing zone between the sun gear and the planetary gears of the gear system, and the transverse stiffness (KIC) of the inlet unit is less than 5% of the transverse stiffness (KGM) of said gearing zone.
EFFECT: preventing loss of efficiency and reduction of life of the drive structure and the gas turbine engine as a whole.
