SUBSTANCE: in the method, the sharpening operation is performed without disassembling the stand in two stages, at the first stage all circular knives of each row are sequentially sharpened on periphery, at the second stage of finishing treatment the end faces of circular knives are cut to provide precise distances between the adjacent knives and preset axial displacement of the upper knives relatively to the lower ones. Prior to finishing treatment, the cutter inserts are replaced with new ones. At that, at all the stages, sharpening of the working surfaces of the knives is performed from cutting edges with rough transitions depth of 0.1 mm, half-finished - 0.07 mm, finished - 0.03 mm, feed rate at 0.03-0.05 mm/rpm cutting rate is 70-100 m/min. The sharpening is performed by cutters made of superhard materials based on boron nitride.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce labour intensity of circular knife restoration operation performed without disassembling the stand, in which they operate, improve cutting conditions and improve their quality.
