FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: method includes forming edge portions of a sheet, forming a hollow blank from the sheet, and welding the edges with a longitudinal seam. Elimination of metal pipes damage in areas close to the seams is provided by the fact that when forming the edge portions of the sheet from which a pipe is formed, these sections are provided with larger value of curvature than the nominal curvature of the pipe. In these sections, the curvature equals to 1.04-1.10 of the pipe curvature. The portions of increased curvature are moulded over the length equal to (4.0÷5.0) h, where h is thickness of sheet, and the same length of transition zones is provided from the portions of increased curvature to the sections of nominal curvature of the pipe.
EFFECT: production of welded pipes with longitudinal weld seam.
