FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method for producing a new silicon-containing compound, diphenyl-bis (4-bromophenylmethyl) silane, is proposed. The method consists in reacting 4-bromobenzyl magnesium bromide with diphenyldichlorosilane in the ether medium. The method is characterized in that diphenyl-bis (4-bromophenylmethyl) silane is produced by reacting molecular bromine with p-bromotoluene, isolating p,α-dibromotoluene, obtaining 4-bromobenzylmagnesium bromide in the ether medium and subjecting it to cooling with diphenyldichlorosilane in the ratio of 2:1, respectively, followed by distillation of the solvent on a rotary evaporator.
EFFECT: proposed method allows to produce a compound with the yield of the desired compound having stability under long-term storage at room temperature.
