FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises the following steps: a) providing methanol; b) converting the supplied methanol in the first reaction stage to the first reaction mixture containing dimethyl ether, water and, in some cases, unconverted methanol; c) converting the dimethyl ether in the second reaction stage into the second reaction mixture containing propene, as well as additional hydrocarbons with two, four, and five carbon atoms. The second reaction stage is, at least, partially fed with the first reaction mixture; d) separating the second reaction mixture to produce a propene-enriched fraction as well as, at least, one propene-depleted fraction, e) converting propene in the third reaction stage to the third reaction mixture containing ethene, as well as linear butenes selected from the group consisting of 1-butene, cis-2-butene, trans-2-butene, the third reaction stage being, at least, partially fed with a propene-enriched fraction or a propene-enriched fraction; f) separating the third reaction mixture into a target fraction enriched in linear butenes and an ethene-enriched fraction. The method is characterized in that the propene-enriched fraction contains propane and in that the conversion in the third reaction stage is carried out in the presence of propane and in that during the separation of the third reaction mixture, a propene-enriched fraction is produced.

EFFECT: basis of the invention is to provide a method, in which methanol used is converted to as much as possible into butenes.
