FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for monitoring a starting cycle of an engine, in particular a gas-turbine plant, and comprising the following steps: (i) duration of ignition in the engine is determined at a certain start parameter, (ii) the ignition duration in the engine determined thuswise is compared to the control ignition duration for the control engine and at this start parameter, (iii) the engine start index is determined, (iv) the steps (i) - (iii) are repeated for this start parameter at each start of the engine during the cycle, and (v) depending on the indicator change, an alarm signal on engine start cycle degradation is generated.

EFFECT: improved reliability of failure detection of the entire engine system or its part engaged in gas-turbine plant start.
