FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: applying the multi-layer coating. First, bottom layer of titanium nitride is applied. Then, an intermediate layer of nitride of the titanium compound and chromium compound is deposited at a ratio, wt %: titanium 82.0-88.0, chromium 12.0-18.0. Then, the upper layer of the nitride of the titanium, chromium and zirconium compound is deposited at a ratio, wt %: titanium 78.0-86.0, chromium 8.0-12.0, zirconium 6.0-10.0. The application of the layers of the cathode coating is performed by a composite of titanium and chromium, the second is made up of a composite of titanium and zirconium and is positioned opposite the first, and the third is made from titanium and placed between them. The lower layer is applied using a third cathode, the intermediate layer using first and third cathodes, and the top layer using all three cathodes.
EFFECT: higher cutting tool efficiency.
