FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: modifying briquette for cast iron contains sludge of salt baths of quench tanks and aluminium in the form of chips with the following ratio of components, wt %: aluminium in the form of chips 40-30, salt baths sludge of quench tanks 60-70. The sludge contains barium carbonate in the amount of 36-38%, potassium chloride, sodium chloride and magnesium chloride of 10% and magnesium oxide in amount of 0.5%.
EFFECT: increased physico-mechanical properties of metal, expanded possibility of man-made waste disposal.
