FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to establish the safety of children's toys made of plastisol based on polyvinylchloride (PVC) on the analysis of the equilibrium gas phase over the samples of toys and the digitization of the smell of the product using chemical sensors. As a detection device to assess the smell, "electronic nose" is used based on an array of 8 piezosensors with the basic oscillation frequency of 10 MHz, the electrodes of which are modified with sensitive coatings for volatile organic compounds - acetone, toluene, benzene, phenol, dioctylphtalate. To assess the content of the volatile organic solvents and the plasticiser in the equilibrium gas phase, a sample of the toy with a mass of 2.00 g is placed above the samples of toys in the sampler, tightly stoppered, and kept at a temperature of 20±1°C for 15 min to saturate the gas phase with the pairs of volatile organic solvents, 2 cm3 the equilibrium gas phase is selected and injected in a closed detection cell. Prepared detection device is connected to the computer and the program is run registering the real-time signals of the piezo-sensor array in the form of the chrono-frequency patterns, then the areas under the chrono-frequency patterns of each sensor and the total area for all sensors that are processed by a mathematical algorithm of projections for the latent structure (FL) are calculated. After that, according to the mathematical model, which was previously obtained using the results of an organoleptic evaluation of the smell of toys by the professional experts and the analysis of the equilibrium gas phase with an array of sensors above the samples of toys from the training sample, as described above, the values of the smell intensity for the organoleptic assessment scale are predicted in scores (from 0 to 5), they are calculated, and the basic descriptor of the toy smell is determined. If the calculated value for the model in the scale of the organoleptic evaluation exceeds 2±0.4, then the smell of the toy is assessed as not meeting the requirements prescribed in the technical regulations of the customs union.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy, reliability and objectivity of the evaluation of the smell of toys and increasing the information in the analysis.
