FIELD: machine engineering.
SUBSTANCE: threaded joint for steel pipes comprises a coupling which is an opening end of a second pipe, and a nipple in the form of a truncated cone, which is the end of the first pipe and is inserted into the coupling. The nipple includes an outer thread portion, which is a taper thread, and a sealing portion, which comprises a conic surface, and the coupling comprises a portion of the internal thread, which is a taper thread, and a sealing portion, which contains a conic surface, and in the state before screwing the nipple and the coupling the minimum diameter of the taper surface of the nipple is less than the maximum diameter of the conic surface of the coupling.
EFFECT: invention improves reliability of threaded joint.
