CAPILLARY METER TO CONDUCT STUDIES UNDER BARIC CONDITIONS Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC G01N15/08

Abstract RU 2643203 C1

FIELD: oil and gas industry.

SUBSTANCE: capillary meter for conducting studies under baric conditions comprises a core holder unit, a unit for creating, adjusting and maintaining hydraulic pressure, a unit for creating, adjusting and maintaining pressure at the inlet of core holders, a separator, a unit for measuring electric resistance of samples in the core holders. The block of core holders represents n sections, each of which consists of m core holders, each of which is equipped with a collar made of viton and provided with electric insulation of plunger input from the body, in one section all core holders during the experiment are maintained at the same squeezing pressure and the same capillary pressure. Different values of squeezing pressure and capillary pressure in separate core holders can be set in different sections, the unit for creating, adjusting and maintaining the pressure of hydraulic press consists of oil pneumatic pump and a hand press, a hydraulic accumulator representing a pressure vessel divided by an elastic membrane is connected to each section of the core holders, in one half of which there is oil, and in the other half there is nitrogen at the squeezing pressure, the block for creating, adjusting and maintaining pressure at the inlet of core holders consists of pressure controllers, the number of which corresponds to the number of planned points on the curve of capillary pressure of water saturation connected to compressed air line for creating pressure, the separator represents a number of modules corresponding to the number of sections with core holders. Each module consists of glass graduated tubes rigidly fixed in the vertical position, pipe unions with rubber sealing rings are inserted into lower ends of tubes, the height and the inner diameter of the glass-measuring tubes are selected on the basis of assumed total volume of exiting water and the average volume of water released in one stage of capillary pressure, the unit for measuring electric resistance of samples in core holders has a device for measuring electric resistance.

EFFECT: providing opportunities for modelling natural conditions of rock occurrence, measuring residual water saturation of rock and saturation parameter under created conditions, which in turn increases reliability of obtained data, investigating rock samples without unloading the samples from the core holder on each stage of capillary pressure for carrying out operations for weighing and measuring the electric resistance.
