SUBSTANCE: device (10) for contolling the temperature of food and/or beverage contains a cooling unit (11A) ensuring a cooling mode, in which food and/or beverage are cooled down, a heating unit (11B) ensuring a heating mode, in which food and/or beverage are heated up, and a preheating mode, in which food and/or beverage are pre-heated, and a control unit (12) for controlling the cooling and heating units. The control unit (12) is configured to activate the cooling mode or the heating mode in response to signals indicating a change in the behavior of the consumer (30) of the food and/or beverage, and activating the preheating mode in response to the predicted behavior. The signals may represent sound and/or movement and may come from sensor units (18), such as radar units and/or microphone units.
