In the method, fingerprint image is captured, retrieval of fingerprint information characteristics, receiving information about the conditions of the current application and obtaining a threshold of characteristics corresponding to the fingerprint identification security level, based on the information of the conditions of the current application, and comparing the characteristic information with the verification characteristics information stored in advance, determining the success of the fingerprint identification, if the result of the comparison reaches the threshold of characteristics, and the definition of unsuccessful identification of fingerprints, if the result of the comparison does not reach the threshold of characteristics. In accordance with variant of the present description, the fingerprint identification process can be completed based on a threshold of characteristics corresponding to the fingerprint identification security level.
