FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used during treatment of steel with inert gas in tundish. In tundish (3), refractory baffle (1) is installed, dividing its cavity into receiving chamber (4) and pouring chamber (5). Partition (1) has at least one window (7) through which liquid metal enters the pouring chamber from the side of the receiving chamber. In the lower part of partition window (7), porous material (8) is fixed, inside which there is a cavity connected to a supply channel for feeding inert gas through the porous material to a horizontal metal flow passing through the partition window. Thickness of the partition in the place where the porous material is located is greater than the thickness of the partition base. Refining in the partition window allows the most efficient use of the supply of inert gas to remove nonmetallic inclusions, including small ones.
EFFECT: provides an increase in the degree of steel cleaning from non-metallic inclusions, thereby increasing the quality of steel.
