SUBSTANCE: bed system contains a layer of fan blocks, a condenser layer and a mattress layer. The fan block layer comprises a plurality of channels, each in communication with a fan of the plurality of fans, each configured to divert air from one of the channels to an area surrounding the bed system. The condenser layer is located above the fan block layer and contains a plurality of outlets, each in communication with one of the channels. The mattress layer is located above the condenser layer, comprises a bottom portion having a plurality of first passages each in communication with at least one of the outlets and an upper portion having a plurality of second passages each in communication with one of the first passages. The upper part forms a sleeping surface. The upper part comprises a plurality of cavities, each extending perpendicularly to the second passages so that each of the cavities passes through the plurality of the second passages.
