FIELD: games.
SUBSTANCE: computer-implemented method (and system for) managing game instances having a plurality of game positions that can be occupied by players, such as a poker-type game, is disclosed. The method comprises assigning to the player a plurality of weights relating to the gaming positions, where each weight indicates a preference in favour of placing the player in the gaming position. When a player plays in the first game at some given position, the weights are updated to indicate the changed preference for placement in each position. Then the player is assigned to the second game based on the updated weights.
EFFECT: reducing support for a connection with a large number of players.
