FIELD: electronic equipment.

SUBSTANCE: field of application: electrical engineering. Method of diagnosing damage to the short-circuited winding of the rotor of an asynchronous motor is based on monitoring the electromotive force at the terminals the stator winding in the run-out mode and generating a signal on the diagnosis results. Method comprises, from the controlled electromotive force, selecting the mean-square value of additional harmonics with frequencies fν,n = fc(ν ± n/p) and comparing said value with its reference value, and if the mean-square value of said additional harmonics is greater than the reference value, generating a signal on the damage of the winding of the short-circuited rotor, where f= f1(1-s); f1 – mains frequency; s – rotor slip; n = 1÷(p-1), ν – number of network harmonics, p – number of pole pairs of the asynchronous motor.

EFFECT: technical result is higher protection sensitivity.
