FIELD: construction.

SUBSTANCE: method for manufacturing the switch point tongue includes the sequential formation of a root end of a non-heat-treated point rail, heat treatment along the entire length of the point rail, and the formation of a pointed part of the tongue at the intermediate piece obtained. The intermediate piece for carrying out the method for manufacturing the tongue is made in the form of a point rail with a formed root end. The rail head is made with a layer hardened to a depth of at least 20 mm and a hardness in the hardened layer from 340 HB to 390 HB, and with a given hardness distribution over the depth of the hardened layer. The heat treatment plant for the point rail with the formed root end for carrying out the tongue manufacturing method comprises devices for heating the rail profile elements and devices for cooling the rail profile elements, arranged in series along the rail length.

EFFECT: increasing the strength of the switch point tongue.
