FIELD: transportation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a device for heat treatment of weld joints of rails, for example, long-length rails and welded joints. Method for thermal treatment of weld joints of rails includes butt-welding of rails with formation of weld joint and zone of thermal effect of welding, induction heating of entire section of rail in area of welded joint to temperature of hardening by length exceeding length of zone of thermal effect of welding, exposure at tempering temperature, and then cooling. At inductive heating of entire section of rail, additional exposure is carried out in time at temperature equal to tempering temperature during heating of said rails during their production, and then heating in temperature range from tempering temperature during heating of said rails during their production to hardening temperature is carried out for 50 s to 130 s. Proposed device comprises inductor, cooling device and rail welded joint positioning device relative to inductor and cooling device. Inductor is configured to heat the entire rail section in the area of the welded joint, the inductor and the cooling device are located between themselves at a certain distance along the rail and are installed on at least one platform equipped with a drive, with the possibility of linear movement along the rail equipped with a transporting facility. Positioning device is configured to automatically position the welded joint of the rail and inductor relative to each other, as well as automatic positioning of the welded joint of the rail and the cooling device relative to each other.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reduction of rails wear in area of weld joint to degree of wear of main body of rails.
