FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an apparatus and process for the polymerization of ethylene and alpha-olefin. Polymerization unit for ethylene and alpha-olefin includes a polymerization reactor, separation section for unreacted ethylene, alpha-olefin, low molecular weight oligomer and polymer, and solvent recovery section. Ethylene, alpha-olefin and solvent are delivered to the polymerization reactor and the feedstock is copolymerized in a solution state to obtain a polymerization product, containing a copolymer of ethylene and alpha-olefin dissolved in a solvent. Separation section includes an evaporation column for separating unreacted ethylene and alpha-olefin, contained in the polymerization product, and a stripping column for separating low molecular weight oligomers, having lower molecular weight than the molecular weight of ethylene copolymer and alpha-olefin contained in the polymerization product. In the solvent recovery section, low molecular weight oligomers are isolated from the isolated low molecular weight oligomer and solvent and the solvent is recovered.

EFFECT: efficient and economical copolymerization of ethylene and alpha-olefin is provided.
