SUBSTANCE: in the machine, the container is made by folding the inner blank around a wrapped group of tobacco articles. Machine comprises a first folding means, which fold the inner blank to form the hinged lid a feed station, which couples the partly folded inner blank to the wrapped group of tobacco articles so that a rear wall of the wrapped group of tobacco articles rests on the panel of inner blank in line with rear wall of inner container, and second folding means arranged downstream from the feed station, which further folds the inner blank about the wrapped group of tobacco articles to complete the production of the container. However, the first folding means in machine overlap at least the reinforcing eighth panel, at least on the first panel during the formation of the lid. Machine also comprises an opening device which is arranged upstream of the feed station that rotates the formed lid from the closed position to the open position, and a closing device, which is arranged between the feed station and the second folding means and rotates the formed lid from the open position to the closed position.
