SUBSTANCE: method is intended to produce a rigid packet of cigarettes containing a soft package formed by folding a sheet of packaging material and a rigid first container made by folding the first blank, the first blank contains the first panel forming the large side wall of the container, the second panel forming lower wall thereof, and the third panel forming the other large side wall of the container. First panel has two first tongues, forming part of the small side walls of the tank, the second panel has two second tongues, and the third panel - two third tongues, forming the remaining part of the small side walls of the container. Method includes the formation of a group of cigarettes through the forming unit, bending the sheet of packaging material and the first blank in the form of “U” around a group of cigarettes by means of a first bending device so as to bend the first panel and the third panel for 90° relative to the second panel and over the corresponding parts of the sheet, bending the sheet and the first blank together and at the same time around a group of cigarettes by means of a third bending device so as to bend the second tabs for 90° relative to the second panel, together with the corresponding parts of the sheet, bending the sheet and the first blank together and at the same time around the entire group of cigarettes by means of a third bending device so as to bend the third tabs for 90° relative to the third panel and over the second reeds together with the corresponding parts of the sheet, and bending the sheet and the first blank together and at the same time around a group of cigarettes by means of a fourth bending device so as to bend the first tabs for 90° relative to the first panel and on top of the third reeds together with the corresponding parts of the sheet. In addition, in the method, in addition, at first, only a sheet of packaging material in the form of “U” is folded around the group of cigarettes, and then the first “U” blank is bent around the group of cigarettes and on top of the sheet. Invention is also a machine for implementing the method.
