SUBSTANCE: invention relates to means for performing noise modulation and gain control. First value of the mixing ratio is received. First value corresponds to the first part of an audio signal received in the audio encoder. Second value of the mixing ratio is received. Second value corresponds to the second part of an audio signal. Third value of the mixing ratio is formed, at least partially based on the first value and the second value and mixing an excitation signal with modulated noise based on the third value. First set of spectral frequency values corresponding to an audio signal is determined, and the second set of spectral frequency values that approximates the first set of spectral frequency values is determined. Gain value corresponding to at least a portion of the audio signal is adjusted based on the difference between the first set and the second set.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improving signal quality by compensating noise and distortion due to quantization errors.
