FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, specifically, to dentistry, and can be used to diagnose and control the effectiveness of treatment of destructive forms of periodontitis. X-ray image of the tooth with a calibration object in the form of a radioopaque sphere of diameter D, which is attached to the occlusal surface of the test tooth, is obtained, wherein the dimensions of the sphere are included in the overall image format. X-ray image is overlaid with a transparent measuring grid with square cells with side dimensions A. Number of cells N that fit into the area of rarefaction of bone tissue is counted. Diameter of the sphere Dp on the X-ray image is measured. Quantitative estimation of destruction of bone tissue S is determined by the formula
EFFECT: method increases accuracy of determining the actual area of rarefaction of bone tissue by comparing X-ray images of teeth with destructive forms of periodontitis, obtained on different machines and at different times.
