SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine and can be used to treat an individual having very high levels of triglycerides and receiving statin treatment. To this end, the individual is administered eicosapentaenoate (EPA) and statin as separate dosing units, where the EPA is in a capsule in an amount sufficient to provide an EPA dose per day from about 2,500 mg to about 10,000 mg of EPA, and wherein EPA accounts for at least about 95 % by weight of all fatty acids present.
EFFECT: invention provides effective reduction of triglyceride levels in patients receiving statin treatment.
