COMPACT UNIVERSAL UNDERWATER SONAR DEVICE Russian patent published in 2018 - IPC G01S15/00

Abstract RU 2649057 C2

FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: small-sized universal underwater hydroacoustic device is a complex of combined instruments of a hydroacoustic station for underwater communication, which also implements the function of a passive direction finder, and an active sonar that is intended to become a part of the equipment of frogmen and divers. Distinctive feature of the declared universal underwater hydroacoustic device is the choice of the type and design of the hydroacoustic antenna, which provides the possibility of effective technical implementation of the previously mentioned modes of its operation by divers operators. Invention is intended to improve the equipment of divers by combining in one device, realizing the voice and digital communication of divers with each other and support vessel, as well as the detection of underwater objects in the passive and active modes of searching for underwater objects and navigating. Small-sized universal underwater hydroacoustic device contains a set of sound-acoustic hydroacoustic communication equipment between divers and an active sonar consisting of a block of hydroacoustic antennas, an electronic unit and information indicators representing an audio and video headset of a diver. In this case, the universal hydroacoustic antenna is a set of two groups of "composite" piezoelectric converters, in one of which the axes lie in one plane, adjacent piezoelectric converters are oriented at the same angles to each other, the second group of piezoelectric transducers is placed parallel to both sides of one of the piezoelectric converters of the first group, capable to increase numerically both in the plane of the first group and in the perpendicular plane, the video indicator of the device is a sealed unit with three chains of LEDs of the same color, each corresponds to a certain piezoelectric transducer of the first group, and two strings of LEDs of a different color corresponding to piezoelectric converters of the second group, two groups of digital indicators, one registers, according to the decision of the diver, the distance to the correspondent in the mode of sound-signal communication or the distance to the object representing the underwater obstacle. Second group of digital indicators registers the number of the special command in the OCHRS mode and the call sign of the correspondent on the underwater sound signal communication.

EFFECT: technical result: the implementation of an additional operating mode that provides detection of underwater obstacles and objects within the aquatic environment on the dive’s way in the active sonar mode, the realization of sensitivity both during emission and receiving information, improving noise immunity of underwater sound-signal communication, and increasing the communication distance.
