FIELD: measurement; test.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metrology. Method for determining the viscosity of substances involves the organization of a "sliding"/shearing displacement of the operating element of the measuring device with respect to the test substance (TS) that is in contact with it, and the measurement of the parameters associated with the resistance to this "sliding" motion due to the viscosity of the TS. "Sliding" (shearing) movement of the operating element of the measuring device, or rather the movement of its working surface relative to the contacting with it TS, is carried out by means of an inductor with current and a source of magnetic field, located near the working body or inside the working member. Then, direct electromagnetic-acoustic energy conversion is provided, and the registration of the elastic vibrations of the working element after its interaction with the TS is realized by using the reverse electromagnetic-acoustic effect. Viscosity of the TS is determined by changing the value of one or several parameters of the oscillations of the working member, as a mechanical oscillatory system, relative to the corresponding values determined during calibration of the measuring system.
EFFECT: technical result is a simplification of the measurement process, an increase in speed.
