SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chairs and chair supports and is aimed at improving the ergonomics of the structure. Adjustable support assembly for use in a chair has a mounting member, a support for supporting part of the body of a chair occupant, and a carrier slidably carrying the support. Support has a plurality of engagement features and the carrier has an engagement member that is selectively engageable with the engagement features to enable the support to be selectively positioned relative to the carrier at a plurality of positions. A biasing arrangement operatively connects the carrier to the mounting member and forwardly biases the carrier and support. Engagement between the engagement member and an engaged engagement feature increases upon application of rearward force to the support.

EFFECT: increase in the ergonomics of the structure.
