FIELD: transportation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of water transport, namely to the transportation of goods through ice-covered water areas. Method of towing an underwater lighters caravan by an icebreaker is proposed, characterized in that the tow line at the tip of the icebreaker-tower is fixed below the waterline in its stern keel section, and at the extremity of the tow line, a submarine unmanned tug that is passively or actively in operation against the icebreaker-tower is attached, providing a tension for alignment in the wake of the tow line and the possibility of a sharp decrease in speed, stop or reverse.
EFFECT: technical result consists in increased productivity of cargo transportation through ice-covered water areas and improving the maneuvering characteristics of a towing train.
