FIELD: biotechnology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a modified surface, which when irradiated with light is capable of acquiring bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity, thus transforming the surface of the substrate in the bacteriostatic and bactericidal surface many times as long as it is required. Modified surface includes: a substrate configured to attach thermal nanoparticles, supporting local surface plasmon resonance, and thermal nanoparticles supporting local plasmon resonance, associated with said substrate to form a thermal coating, where the thermal coating has a density of thermal nanoparticles from 10 to 1000 per micron2 of substrate surface, the thermal nanoparticles are capable of increasing their temperature by irradiating light with a wavelength in the range, which corresponds to the wavelength of the local surface plasmon resonance of said nanoparticles, whereby said thermal coating increases its temperature, making it possible to increase the temperature of said thermal coating, with the prevention of attachment of the microorganism to this surface, inhibition of biofilm formation on a given surface and/or destruction of an already formed biofilm on a given surface.
