FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of electrical equipment and can be used to extinguish an electric arc in switching devices. Method includes the arc deforming with the arc extinguishing fluid flooded jets flowing out of the contacts cavity into the arc extinguishing chamber, starting from the moment when the arc ignition with the contacts disengagement, process of influence on the arc is accompanied by the control of at least one parameter of the arc and at the moment when the value of this parameter is reached, extinction of the arc is completed by means of an additional action on the arc. As the controlled parameter, the rate of change of the voltage on the arc dU / dt is selected, and the arc voltage variation sensor is connected with a delay relative to the command time for the switching device to operate, the delay value is determined according to the given ratio. When the arc is extinguished in the arc extinguishing liquid, an increased pressure is generated by igniting the additionally introduced combustible gas mixture to which the free volume of the arc chute chamber is filled, and an additionally inserted piston-float placed on the surface of the liquid.
EFFECT: decrease in switching losses with increasing reliability of work.
