FIELD: electrical engineering. SUBSTANCE: switching out arc extinguishing method includes arc submersion by arc extinguishing liquid which deforms arc by replacing its current channel. Arc extinguishing liquid jets are injected from contact elements internal cavities to arc extinguishing chamber. Arc current channel thickness is examining while arc extinguishing operation to detect moment for finishing extinguishing operation. Current channel thickness determining formula is cited in invention prescription and it includes surface strength coefficient of liquid tension for arc extinguishing liquid, its density and moving contact acceleration value which is taking up as arc plasma and undisturbed extinguishing liquid separation surface. Finishing operation is additional action of directed shock waves generated by electric discharges of special circuit which contacts are placed in main contacts concentrically so that shock waves moving direction is perpendicular to arc current curved channel. EFFECT: method permits commutation current growing up by 1,5 times with switching out period shortening by 30% comparing with prototype operation parameters. 3 dwg
