FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for automatic PID controller tuning for controlling a diesel engine in electric sets and power plants. For automatic tuning, a step control action is applied to the input of the automatic control system, the parameters of the PID controller by the reaction to this effect are evaluated, the start and end time of the transient process are determined, the analysis of the transient process image on the basis of an artificial neural network is made, the need to recalculate the coefficients of the regulator is determined, recalculation of the values of the PID regulator parameters in the optimal degree of stability in a certain way is made.
EFFECT: increase in the accuracy and speed of the diesel engine speed control are ensured.
