SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical protection systems and safety systems. Method for detecting aerosol fractions isolated by wire insulation during heating, including the presence of two measuring channels operating in two wavelength ranges (ultraviolet and infrared spectrum), and using common sources of radiation. Measuring channels are located in the space at an equal distance from the common center, the separation of the difference signal between the measuring channels of the signals. According to the method, the signals obtained in each spectrum are compared with the thresholds recorded in the arrays of amplitude-frequency characteristics for each spectrum, and when the threshold distribution is exceeded based on the results of the comparison, a signal is generated for switching off electrical equipment.

EFFECT: technical result is to increase the sensitivity of smoke sensors in insulation heating monitoring systems.
