FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device and a method for reducing network reactions when electric arc furnace (10) is in operation. Said electric arc furnace (10) comprises three branches (7) respectively comprising one electrode (4). Sensor (15) for measuring the actual flowing current and sensor (16) for measuring the actual applied voltage are provided in each branch. Control and regulating unit (30) calculates an actual electrical quantity (Eist1, Eist2, Eist3). Semi-conductor step switch (20) is associated with furnace transformer (6), such that a desired current (Is1, Is2, Is3) in each branch (7) can be adjusted by suitably selecting three desired winding taps (TSOLL1, TSOLL2, TSOLL3) on primary side (P) of furnace transformer (6).
EFFECT: invention provides reduction of network reactions when an electric arc furnace is in operation.
